REVELSTOKE - A KISS IN THE WIND
My great-grandfather Angelo Conte died in an accident in 1915, while he was working on the construction of a railway tunnel in Canada. Nobody ever knew what happened during his journey as an immigrant until I found the letters that he sent to Anna, his young and beloved wife.
Thirty months ago, when Angelo left the country of Valstagna, Veneto, she was carrying their first child: my grandmother. Unfortunately they didn't meet again.
After reading the letters of Angelo I decided to make the same journey in the company of Irene, my partner. We depart from Italy to get to Vancouver, Kamloops, the Selkirk Mountains, to Revelstoke, the place where Angel is buried. A tomb that no one has ever been for a hundred years.
Letter after letter will discover its mystery, crossing our path with that of immigrants today, writers, historians and citizens of the Canadian mosaic. Places, objects and meetings will mingle through the mechanism of a time machine made of old and new images, that will help me bring back Angel alive, and bring him back to his Anna.
