20 MAY 2018: THE THIRD EDITION OF SHERPA VERTICAL: THE MORE YOU WEIGH, THE MORE YOU HELP

A mountain race for charity

This is a mountain race for charity that starts at the Balasso Shelter at the foot of Mount Pasubio and finishes at Palon Peak (2,227 metres above sea level). The race’s name reflects its special purpose. Lightness doesn’t figure here, for once. Participants don’t run with the essentials but for the essential. That is to say, to support the underprivileged people in the Andes - both literally and figuratively. “The more you weigh, the more you help” is where male competitors have to run with a backpack filled with provisions weighing the equivalent of 10% of their body weight and women competitors carrying 8% of their body weight. The provisions will be collected at their arrival and donated to Operation Mato Grosso. Every runner is requested to come to the starting point with 5 kilos of food – canned goods or rice – while the remaining food needed to reach the proper weight to haul is offered by MONTURA. The company has been collaborating for several years with O.M.G. in support of the “Don Bosco de en los Andes” Andes Mountain Guide Association. more >>>
