San Pellegrino Terme
26 febbraio 1965
«If I just listen I forget. If I read I manage to remember something. If I act I learn». A wisdom pill that sort of amounts to Omar Pietro Oprandi’s motto. Born in San Pellegrino Terme on 26 February 1965, he eventually moved from the Orobie mountains to the Trentino and became a mountain guide. A first-rate ski mountaineer, he has collected an infinite number of victories including that of the Trofeo Mezzalama (1997) and – although he is no longer a spring chicken – he continues to compete in a team with Franco Nicolini, recording respectable results. Together with Franco he also tests himself on rock: in 2009 the two friends set out in the footsteps of unforgettable Bruno Detassis (1910-2008) and repeated no less than 33 of the master’s grand routes in 18 non-consecutive days, between mid-July and the beginning of November.
