RICCARDO SCARIAN

RICCARDO SCARIAN
Bio

Mister all-rounder, spanning from competitions to the great Dolomite faces. Riccardo Scarian, born in the Trentino in 1968, is one of those individuals who have written important pages in climbing history without making a great fuss – his favourite saying being “He who knows does not speak, he who speaks does not know”. He began to climb at the age of 16 (but would start at 3 if he were reborn...), treasures "The Lord of the Rings" and wishes to form a rope party, as he lets his imagination wander, with the legendary Apache leader Geronimo. Here some facts (just a couple of examples): he’s mastered more than a handful of 8a and 8a+ routes onsight, including Via attraverso il Pesce on the Marmolada (in 1991, preceded only by Daniele De Candido, like himself a member of the Guardia di Finanza); with Manolo he has opened and freed Cani morti (200 m, 8b+, 8a obligatory) on the Campanile Basso dei Lastei (Pale di San Martino), he’s ticked the second repeat of Solo per vecchi guerrieri (opened by Manolo, 150 m, 8c/8c+) on El Colaz (Feltre Dolomites) and, returning to pure crag climbing, managed to break into the magical domain of grade 9a.
