Trentino’s native climber gets his hands on some Venezuelan rocks

Larcher, Giupponi and Oviglia brought their “Escalador Selvatico” (Wild Climb) to life in 7 days of climbing the walls of Akopan Tepui, an enormous massif that rises in the heart of the Amazonian Forest. They opened a new 630-metre route with a difficulty grade of 7c+ (7a+ obligatory). As Lacher told us, this line has a truly wonderful climb that nobody could have even hoped for at the beginning. In fact, of the route’s 18 pitches, only a couple are “jungle style” while all the others offer a climb that is simply thrilling.
