ILMURRÁN - ENCHIKUNYE - MAASAI IN THE ALPS AWARDED AT CINEMAMBIENTE 2015
CINEMAMBIENTE, Turin, October 2015 6/11
The young director Sandro Bozzolo has been awarded by the prestigious international environmental film festival in Turin. The award goes to the short film ENCHIKUNYE, shortened version of the documentary ILMURRÁN, both related to the project MAASAI IN THE ALPS.
The film project tells the story of a young Maasai girl and a "bergera" (shepherdess of sheep) on the high pastures of the Maritime Alps. Two women different for their skin color, age and language live together one Alpine season, sharing the hard work, telling each other stories.
Part of this experience has been gathered by the masterful shots of the young Italian, who discreetly, with very few resources and great quality compositional-narrative, accompanied by remarkable musical research of Ciro Buttari, gives us one of the most interesting films of Alpine anthropologie and social relationships in recent years, with particular attention to the situation of women in different cultures and the need to abandon old traditions when these clash with human dignity.
Montura Editing has supported the project.
