BIKEPACKING

Dino Lanzaretti

I started exploring new worlds and cultures simply because of the fascination of the different, which then turned into an inner quest that gave me a glimpse into many lives: factory worker, office worker, mountaineer, cook and finally bicycle traveler. I have pedaled more than 100,000 kilometers in distant lands and crossed the borders of 70 countries, never losing the enthusiasm to push myself up climbs to see what lay beyond that pass. Biking allows you to get to know all the people you cross on the road up close, give birth to magnificent encounters and learn from the protagonists about their stories and dreams. For me, there is no better way to truly discover the world and at the same time fatten the ego for an "other" life. The constant, sometimes inhuman effort, the constant experiences that the road put in front of me, the incredible encounters, knowing that I was doing something that would not allow me to be the same as when I left, is what I call my immense good fortune. After the first years spent pedaling the Americas and Africa, I sought the essence of travel in increasingly remote and difficult lands. I have traveled the entirety of Tibet from east to west, was the first to cross Siberia in the middle of winter at -60°C, and am continually looking for the least conventional roads to ride on. A place you have to deserve, and the only way to do that is to get there on your own strength. Hence the project of wanting to take would-be bicycle travelers with me among the most scenic and wild places on the planet, in total self-sufficiency. I am absolutely convinced that the beauty of nature, seasoned with dopamine from hard work and enhanced by the immense humanity of the peoples, is the scientifically reproducible recipe for happiness.
