Michele Zambelli grew up with the sea and sailing, and very soon discovered the joy of ocean navigation, followed by solo sailing. At 19, his first Atlantic crossings in a small 6.5 metre yacht (Mini 650) earned him a podium place in the most important regattas on the French and Italian circuits, the training ground for the best skippers in the category and the place where the big names in ocean sailing began their careers.

Four times Italian champion in the Mini 6.50 class, 3rd in world rankings for the ‘Prototype’ category and two successful Mini Transats - in 2013 he came tenth and in 2015 sixth, with a second place in the second leg between the Canaries and Guadalupe - only the second Italian ever to have set foot on the podium.

Since 2013 he has told his seafaring stories on the La Stampa blog Il mio Oceano.
