The return of Enrico Zennaro from Australia

December 18th, 2015 -

We left Enrico Zennaro departing to Sydney, as skipper leader of the Lino Sonego Team Italy, the only Italian team involved in the last stage of the Extreme Sailing Series 2015, circuit for top-level professionals played on the Extreme 40 catamarans. The team arrived in Sydney with a recent very positive results as it finished second in St. Petersburg, fourth in Istanbul and first in Trieste (during an extra circuit event played in conjunction with the Barcolana).

The week in Sydney has been more challenging than expected and the final result (seventh out of nine) does not satisfy for the position, but certainly for the great experience: "we come back home knowing that the experience was very formative in many respects ».

To be noted that "the first day we had a collision with the British team GAC Pindar that forced us to repair work all night in order to sail the next day. The second day a sudden gust made us capsize and we flew from 6 meters high. Fortunately none of the crew was hurt and we were also very lucky to not break practically nothing on the boat. Operations righting the boat lasted about 25 minutes and then we played well the last two races of the day as if nothing had happened".

The next year this circuit will change the model of the boat and it will pass to catamarans GC32 with foil, a system of drifts that allows to rise up on the water and reach incredible speeds of over 35 knots. Another major challenge for our skipper Enrico Zennaro.
