GRAND RAID DU CROMAGNON AND MONTURA IN THE RACE TOGETHER FOR SOLIDARITY
ATHLETE BEN ROLFE WILL ARRIVE FROM MONACO TO THE FOOT OF THE CRO TO FAMILIARIZE US WITH HIS DAUGHTER’S BATTLE WITH DIABETES
The Grand Raid International du Cro-Magnon is not just competitiveness at its purest stage. It is also an expression of fraternal solidarity towards those less fortunate.
Ben Rolfe is the “ambassador” of the Cro-Magnon in English-speaking countries, having already participated in the 2013 edition and registered to compete in the upcoming edition.
Last Christmas at home in England, his daughter was diagnosed with a very serious form of diabetes. Diabetes UK, a self-help charity for diabetics committed to research the illness is offering him much support in finding a treatment for his daughter.
In order to make the English-speaking world aware of the research being carried out by this association, Rolfe will leave Monaco (where he works) on foot at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday 19 June. His destination is Limone Piemonte by way of Sospel, Breil and Tende. Everything he’ll be needing will be found in his rucksack – from his sleeping bag and food to his running gear donated by Montura.
This father who is running to help his daughter and many other less fortunate children will make it to Limone in 12 hours, arriving late that Thursday afternoon. He will then rest and take off for the Cro-Magnon on Saturday morning.
