ALPINISM

Eduard Marin Garcia

I am an athlete and a mountain lover.
I like competition, but what I am most passionate about is exploring new places and finding new routes to climb. As a climber, I am very determined, dedicated and motivated.  At the moment I live in Catalonia, where I enjoy the good weather, family and friends.  I love living here because there are many crags and I feel at home. I like to inspire people and share my climbing experience because it has fulfilled me.  I still remember the first time I climbed, I was only 11 years old, that day my life changed. It's funny how I started climbing thanks to my father, he was the one who took me to compete and climb.
Now, 15 years later, I am the one who takes my father to climb all over the world in search of the hardest and most epic lines on the planet.
I started competing at the age of 13 and won all the junior competitions in which I competed in:  Spanish Lead Champion (1999), European Junior Champion (2002), World Junior Champion (2003 and 2004).
From 2005 to 2012 I participated in competitions in the absolute category, among the best climbers in the world, achieving many podiums in the World Cup stages.
In 2006 I was the first climber in history to win the Spanish Bouldering and Lead Championship titles in the same year. In 2012 I decided to retire from competitions to start a new path in my life and to find new motivations: climbing multi-pitch routes.
Since then I have been travelling the world in search of the longest and hardest climbing walls in the world. So far I climbed the routes Pan Aroma (8c, 600m, Dolomites - Italy), Wogü (8c, 250m, Ratikon - Switzerland), Orbayu (8c, 500m, Picu Urreillu - Spain), Mora Mora (8c, 600m, Madagascar - Africa), Arco (Iris, 200m, 8c+ FA, Montserrat - Spain) and Valhalla (9a+ FA, 380m, Getu - China).
